  2. One of the ways I motivate myself to be successful is by reminding myself of the reason why I am doing that specific thing in the first place. For example when I am exercising and I feel like quitting I remind myself that I am doing it to be healthy and how good it will feel. I apply that to my schooling to keep myself motivated when I feel like giving up,slacking a little or putting things off until the last minute. I remind myself that I am doing this for a reason and in order to get there I have to keep going. I remind myself of how rewarding it will feel when the day comes that I can say " Hey I did it. I overcame all my obstacles and worked hard to reach my goals. I am successful" That's what motivates me.

  3. Some roadblocks I have are the stress that is put on me for school,my trouble I have keeping focused, and not knowing how to study very well. These really put a strain on me being successful in school. Thankfully I have had the help of my husband. He tries to keep me from stressing about other things so I just have to worry about school. He also helps me keep focused by removing things from my desk in my room that could be distracting while i'm doing my online work. He's very helpful with my studying as well. Its nice to have someone to support you with school, but I do plan on changing that and not needing to be dependent when it comes to things like these. Another thing I've found to be helpful for focusing is turning my phone off while i do my work because it keeps me from getting distracted and i can really understand the material. I plan on finding better ways to study effectively and also organize my time well enough so I don't have to stress as much.

  4. I motivate myself by looking forward to relaxation after a long day of work or a hard study session. Relaxation is my biggest stress reliever, I just find it difficult to find very much time for myself these days so hopefully by taking this class I can manage and organize my time better. I also use the reward of fishing to get me through the week. I'll work and study all week and look forward to a nice Saturday out on the water with my dad. He gets me through most of my problems and contributes his thoughts into my activities daily.

  5. One of the ways I motivate myself to be successful is by remembering what my end goals are and why I am doing it to begin with. I constantly remind myself that hard work does pay off. In the end, i’m going to thank myself for not giving up and that way I will live a happy, successful lifestyle. After completing chapter 1, I have realized that staying focused and avoiding procrastination will lead me to a better future of success. Managing my time efficiently is important in order to complete all my educational tasks. In the future, I am going to thank myself for not giving up on my end goals and I am going to be more satisfied with the person I have become after all my hard work.

  6. A roadblock to my success in school comes from stress. I have realized that I tend to become stressed easily when I need to remember to relax and stay focused. Studying for tests may put the extra pressure on me, because I haven’t quite figured out which studying method works best for me yet. Dropping out of college is not an option for me, I will not allow myself to give up on something that I know I can achieve with some hard work. I remember that at the end of my educational path, I am going to move forward in my life and attain a successful career that I have always dreamed of having.

  7. One of the roadblocks to my success I think would be my phone. My phone is a huge distraction because I just get so distracted when it comes to social media. It’s really a huge distraction when it comes to my homework because I’m always texting my friends, and it keeps me from really staying focused and making sure that I am doing the highest quality work possible. Not having good quality work hinders your success because it means that you will not recieve the best grade possible. Not getting the best grade possible would mean that your overall grade is going to be affected negatively, and that’s never good.

    1. Hi Alex .. I feel what do you mean by social media, sometimes I get the same problems, but I always make sure to set my phone on airplane mode so I don't get distracted till I finish my assignments, actually it worked with me and now I focus more on what I have to do to get my homework done.

  8. I motivate myself to look forward to things that I can do once all of my stuff is done. Once all of my homework and studying is done I can have fun. Motivating myself to look forward to things is easy because I know that once everything is done I don’t have to stress out about making sure that I get everything done right at the last second right before it is due, talk about stress. Another thing that I reward myself with is starbucks. For example, if I get up early enough and get ready on time, then I go to starbucks before school. Also, if I do well on a test at school I go to starbucks after and celebrate. It’s a win win situation.

  9. I motivate myself to be successful by knowing why I am doing certain things in life. One of the questions is why am I in school? And the answer to the question is because I want to be successful in life. Success means everything to me, I am successful because I am attending school, working, and also managing my time. One of the most important matters in my life is to know how to achieve my goals. I am motivated to see how my future is going to look like after all the hard work I have put into my studies. I am motivated to wake up everyday and know that I will learn something new. I took this class to be better at multitasking and managing my time. I will be learning much helpful stuff from this course. I am looking forward on becoming a better learner and managing time. I have some roadblocks I need to work on more. I get really stressed when I have homework and test to do. I try to manage my time to be able to do all my studying, but my work is taking some of my time. I am getting help from the assignment that I am doing for this course. It has been difficult, but I have been trying to write down everything I am doing during my day and I found out I have more time to do my homework. The list has helped me in many different ways.

  10. First of all, I motivate myself by looking at greater people and tell myself that if they can do it then that means I can, and I also go back and remember all the dreams I have and remind myself that I have to go for them and do whatever it takes to reach my goals. My parents are great motivation to me, because they worked so hard to raise my to become the person I am today so when I look at them I realize that I can never disappoint them and that I have to do whatever it takes to make them proud of who I become.
Sometimes I come through tough time in college, it becomes so hard for me to catch up and I do get the idea of dropping out, but then I look around me and I see all these people doing it and I realize that nothing comes easy, and education is the key to success in today’s world. Of course there’s roadblocks for everyone in their lives. For me, I do find myself giving up sometimes because of the pressure and especially because I’m not a big fan of school, but I always end up overcoming those roadblocks by controlling my mind and putting effort into it.

  11. I'm Carlos Morales and some roadblocks for me are that I am not a very well thought out writer. English is defiantly not one of my strong suits and same with my vocabulary, but i am trying to overcome these minor flaws.I am willing to improve myself in that area and do everything in my power to do so. Whether it's studying on my own and getting ahead or just asking for extra assistance before or after class. I don't feel like my mindset is going to stop me from being successful because I have the drive to be where I want to be.

  12. I try to stay active in order to be successful and I always look at things from the bright side. I always make sure to remind myself of my goal and all the time and effort I’m putting in order to achieve this goal. Chapter one helped me a lot to rethink about what is making me stay on track and keeping me away from losing focus. The survey and all the quizzes helped me a lot to look at things from a different perspective and made me aware of a lot of things that I wasnt aware of. So it was definitely a chapter to start with.

Not that I would ever think about dropping from school or this class especially after all this time and effort I put into studying and making sure to get good grades. But If I ever thought about it. The first thing I would remind myself of is my goal and how dropping from college would not help me in anyways to achieve my goal in life, if anything it is just gonna make it more difficult. And a lot of times people would drop out of a certain class or college in general because of some roadblocks that comes in their way, which I personally Have had some. Main one would be speaking, writing, reading. Since I’ve only been here for about 4 years now, It was really difficult for me to get comfortable speaking and writing in general, and it always made me get stressed and I had a real struggle with it. But, I always looked back at my family and parents specifically. Because they’re the ones who brought me here in order to get a better chance of education for me, and have a better opportunity in life. So the least I can do is make them proud. Basically, each person can motivate him/her self in anyway possible even if it has nothing to do with school, as long as it makes you overcome that roadblock and be successful.

  13. One of the ways I motivate myself is by keep telling myself that's everything I am doing right now is just temporary and it will finish someday and I will be very happy to accomplish a big part of my life successfully. This way helps me out to keep going and never give up either at work or at school. For example, I work as a cashier which is not my dream job at all, but once I remind myself that I am not going to work as a cashier for the rest of my life and someday I will be working the job I love and fits my skills all things get easier

  14. One of the best way that i use to motivate my self is by telling my self that every day is a new day for me. If today is good, tomorrow would be way better. with every rising sun, there is a new beginning ahead of me. I taught my self to never give up in everything I do and when I fail in something, i always try again till i get it. For example, when I was in the high school, I was struggling with the CAHSEE exam specially the English one and after many times of taking it, I passed it twice. That gave me the power to never give up on something, tomorrow will be always better.

  15. Some of my roadblocks are I am always stressful and get distracted by things easily. The stress is my big roadblock and it tires me a lot. I am a kind of person who thinks all the time 24/7 about everything, I think about my classes and how to get everything done on time and how to get high grades in all classes, and I feel afraid of failing somewhere. Distraction is my second roadblock. I get distracted easily especially because of my phone, I am engaged so I text my fiancé all the time. I have been working on reducing text messages and focus on studying more but it's kind of hard on me. So I waste my time on doing nothing but thinking and texting.

  17. The roadblocks to my success would be guessing instead of studying, for example when I took the CAHSEE exam I didn't study for the test,I depended on my reading and my guessing skills and that's not correct at all because when you have just one chance in your life to success, you are going to lose that chance if you keep doing this trick,so when I didn't pass for the third time, I told myself that this is not going to work, I tried and studied a little bit and in a few months I passed it. So all I had to do was studying the materials and focusing. It is not a bad idea if you use your guessing skills on something else, but not when you have just some chances to success. Now I am way better than I was. I am studying to make my goals come true. Study more, be better.

  18. One of the ways that I try to motivate myself to be successful is by never looking back on downfalls from the past, but instead keeping my head up and figuring out how to overcome that failure. I am able to motivate myself to be successful also by rewarding myself every time I have accomplished goals that I have set. After going through chapter 1, I was able to find some new ideas on motivation and how to be successful, like studying as often as I possibly can in order to score higher on tests and paying attention to what is going on in the classroom at all times without getting distracted.

  19. As I am focused on becoming successful during and after college, there are all types of roadblocks to my success, including distractions when I am in the classroom from social media making me want to not be in the class at all or giving me the urge to put down my homework because of how tiring it gets sometimes. There are times where these roadblocks takeover, but I often find myself overcoming these roadblocks by simply turning my phone off and logging off of whatever social media I was on in order to get my work done in time, so that I could have a separate time to enjoy all of the fun things I missed out on while completing an assignment or studying for a test that means more than checking out what was going on in the social media world.

  20. To stay motivated, I give myself rewards. For example, if I get an assignment done by a certain time, I get to go out with friends for a few hours, or if I wake up by 6:30 AM, I can get Starbucks instead of making coffee at home. Getting assignments done on time and waking up early are key steps in success for me. Another way I motivate myself is by making dream boards. I got this idea from my sister, but I just pin motivational quotes and pictures to a cork board and hang it in my room. This works for anything from career goals and dreams, weight loss, and staying on track. The biggest way to get motivated is to look at the big picture and the steps you have to take to get to where you want to be. If I want to be a successful, well-educated music producer, I need to go to school, graduate, and work from the bottom up to get to that point in my life. Realizing things aren’t going to get handed to me is very important. Hard work pays off.

  21. My biggest struggle in staying motivated is negative thinking. I get overwhelmed by where I want to be that I don’t think about where I currently am and I start to doubt myself. I start to compare my current situations to someone else’s success and begin to think I have failed in some way. Which isn’t the case, I have only just begun my journey. Another roadblock I have is getting distracted. I have had problems with staying focused since I was little. Surrounding noises, such as the television or people talking, make it hard for me to concentrate on what I am doing. A way I avoid this is listening to music. Music relaxes me. Although it is probably frowned upon, listening to music while doing school work or studying helps me stay focused.

  22. 1. My biggest motivation to be successful is to visualize the life I want to achieve. Completing daily tasks are going to help me reach that life. I also tell myself that all I need to do is complete this one tasks, or take one more step. After completing that one tasks I tell myself to do just one more, and I continue this cycle. This is particularly useful when I'm working out, I tell myself just one more rep. It's also useful for keeping on track with school. I tell myself to just finish this assignment, then I push myself to do the next and before I know it I've finished all my assignments for the week. Small steps seem to be less stressful on me than trying to take in everything I have to complete.

    1. Yes, success is gained one step at a time. Sounds like you are very motivated. Keep going!

  23. 4. My main roadblock to my success is myself. A large part of the time I have a negative view of myself. I feel as though I'm unable to achieve what I want to achieve and that I'm further behind than my peers. I look at my peers success and feel as though I've missed something. Logically I know that's not the case and that any steps are better than none. I need to work on being more positive about myself and my how far I've come. Instead of completing a task and seeing the many other tasks ahead I should look at how that tasks has brought me closer to my goals. Another roadblock I have is procrastination. I've always had a problem with making good use of my time. I constantly put things off until the last minute and then get overwhelmed. I'm trying to make it a priority to stick to my planner and complete tasks on the day that I've assigned them to be completed.

  24. It is not an easy task motivating myself to be successful, in fact it takes an excessive amount of effort, determination, and a positive mind set. I often try to visualize my success and what I hope my future would one day look like which pushes me to apply an immense amount of effort in my studies. I try to write down steps of what I would like to accomplish each day so that I can see that I am moving one step closer to reaching my goals and dreams. Also surrounding myself with positive people who will support me throughout my journey of success will better help me reach my goals and dreams.

  25. After reading chapter one it brought me to thinking about a few aspects on achieving a successful life that I would have never thought about before. The topic I favored the most was the reminder for us to try and maintain a positive mind set and brainstorm ways in which we can motivate ourselves to be successful. I hope I never reach the point of wanting to drop out of college but if I do I will reevaluate the classes that I am taking and spend time thinking about if they are meant for me and If not I will review my courses and my future plans and make adjustments to my schedule that will better suit my lifestyle. One roadblock to my success is the negative energy and opinions from others regarding my plans for the future. I need to try and not let their negative comments get to me and to keep my head high and know that anything is possible if I set my mind to it and constantly remind myself to never give up. I came across one comment on managing time which is also something I can work on in order to make my process of studying more efficient.

  26. I have always been a self-motivated individual since a very young age. I would work on school projects alone without the tedious micromanaging from my parents, typically urging me to get the assignment done. The way I used to motivate myself was to get good grades so my parents stayed off my back. Now I realize that all my hard work throughout my entire education was so I could unlock endless possibilities to lead me to a successful career path that best fits my interests. The concepts of intrinsic motivation and internal locus of control from Chapter 1 have already been embedded in me but I never knew how to explain them until now. Whenever I become frustrated with different aspects of me life, I always need to remind myself that I control how I react. If something is bothering me or making me unhappy, I can exclude that from my day-to-day tasks so I can focus on the other positive aspects of my life. In the end, positive thinking will always work the best for me to keep me looking forward towards the future. -Natalie Furois

  27. Everyone could have a good ideas about motivation but in different ways and different quantities, but motivation is good and make a good result any way because it make the person feel that life has a value so we should make it better. There is so many ways to use motivation, but it depend on personality and what person would motivated with. usually I visualize my future with the goals that I want to be achieved , put a rewards that would be so interested to me ,and looking for something fun of what i am doing for example I get bothered from this class sometimes because it need a lot time and had a lot of writing but what I do I just think how much I like typing and want to make my typing speed higher, so i would be so happy to write and continue my online homework , that make it all worth it for me so i would work harder to resistant and keep going forward.

  28. Every individual will come to a point where moving forward seems impossible. I am paying my own way through school, so I have to obviously find means to make that possible. I have been at the same retail job for almost a year and a half now. In the beginning it was great! I got along with my entire team of coworkers and I loved my supervisors. Recently, events at work have made me want to leave and expand my work experience because I do not see myself growing anymore at this particular job. Not only am I paying my way through school, but also trying to save up for my own personal means of transportation. I currently share vehicles with my family so that everyone can get to the places they need to be, but it gets very complicated and unnecessarily stressful sometimes. I’ve developed a way to motivate myself by saying positive phrases like “I will get a new job that will help me with my individual growth” or “I will make enough money to pay for school and purchase my own car”. Repeating these phrases a couple times helps me to visualize the change I want to make in my life. It also reassures me that I will complete these goals and allows me to brainstorm ways I can start to work towards them.

  30. Hello Everyone, My experience in college as a second year student has been great and even greater than I ever imagined. Last year, just a few days before I started my college journey, I feared it so much! I thought I was not going to be able to do good and get good grades like other people, I feared failing and not being able to achieve my goals, but after the first semester everything changed! I believed in myself and my abilities of getting my school work done and in a very efficient way! College has been impacting my life greatly and I am truly thankful for all the opportunities I have that some people wish to have and are willing to give up so much to get it. People should appreciate education more often and realize the importance of it because from my experience, I learned if you do not love what you do, you will not achieve it.

  31. Hello Again,
    1) How I motivate myself to be successful is by setting realistic short and long term goals.
    2) Some ideas that this first chapter offered for me is to realize the major importance of education in our lives today and how it effects each aspect of outlive. Those who do not educate themselves are seen as mostly low status people, which is very sad to see how some people do not even care about their education and drop out of college at the first struggle they face.
    3) The way to motivate myself to continue is by realizing the benefit of working through the short term struggle to achieve long term success.
    4) The largest roadblock to my success is actually getting the motivation to complete the tasks at hand to achieve the long term goals I desire. The best way to overcome these roadblocks is by keeping focused on what the benefit of completing these academic requirements to achieve my career desires.

  32. I really liked the idea about setting up a worry time. It’s kind of like allowing yourself to indulge in self-pity then pulling up boot straps and doing something about it, rather than trying to constantly push a problem away or pretending it doesn’t exist continuously haunt you. I want the background of my mind to be working on other education or intellectual issues. I would also like to set up a study area a bit away from the normal household. We are lucky enough to have a guest room and I will see about getting a desk to set up in there so that I can turn it into a special study/concentration area…as well as the laundry room, but I can totally ignore that distraction.

  33. My roadblocks to success is having enough time. I have been a stay-at-home mom for exactly 5.5 years and my children’s constant companion. Even as I write this, despite that I have asked them to let me work they are at the computer chair trying to push it in circles and talk to me. They understand what I am trying to do, despite being young, but they have grown up having be at their beck and call. My older one is starting kindergarten on the 8th. I like to think that will help having only my 4 year old at home to watch over. However, as the time approaches I am afraid it is going to backfire and with the loss of her playmate she is instead going to turn to me to fill that position. All I can hope is that her ability to play on her own will leave me with enough time to get done what I need to get done. When I put them to bed, that’s generally my husband’s time. I don’t have a lot of me time and for someone who is extremely introverted that is a constant challenge. But I remind myself that I am the third little pig, like the story I tell my kids. I am the one that didn’t get to play hardly at all that summer but when the summer was over he had a beautiful house that kept him safe and happy.

I am a self motivated person. I find it easy to motivate myself to do whatever it is that comes to my mind. My friend once told me " work is easy, hard work is dedication."I really believe that. If you put in hard work in something that you really believe in then the outcome will be successful. There is no ideas from chapter 1 that really caught my eyes on how to motivate myself. I usually motivate myself. If I feel like ever dropping out of my classes or school, I always think about how blessed I am to have a opportunity to get a education and it really hits me when I think about it. Not everyone in the world gets a chance to get a degree or even go to school. The only roadblock I have is work, and I need work to pay my bills. Work takes all the energy I have and it drains me when I am in class, but I keep fighting and pushing through it so that I can become successful in school. I really like what Miranda Hirmez said about keeping a straight mind set. Thats really important to me because that is one of my keys to being successful in life.

To be honest, motivation has to come from within someone. They have to be motivated about what ever it is they want to do. If someone really wants something, they are going to work for it. Success isn't easy. You have to work for it. You have to get out of your comfort and do things that you do like to do, or things that you are not good at. You have to learn things the hard way, and eventually it will become easy. Its like ridding a bike for the first time. Your going to fall, and fall, and fall again and again. you might want to quit at first but you keep going, and you fall some more. Then you'll eventually get used to it and you'll be able to ride a bike by yourself. Thats success. Thats doing something you really want to do. Keep your mind to be successful and and go through hell and you will be successful. You have to get up and get what you want. Success doesn't come a plate that is served to you. You have to motivate yourself to be successful and if you do, sky is the limit for you.

  36. Some ways I motivate myself is by listening to positive music or drawing quotes that help keep my mind set straight. What I read in the chapter wasn't anything far from what I already knew. It was nice to get a reminder on things to do when I get stressed out. Well, one thing I learned in this chapter was that I am a self motivated person. I always thought that I was the opposite, but that's not the case. Other ways I motivate myself are; dancing, running, working out, talking with friends, and think of my own benefit out of what is to come. I am definitely not dropping this class, however, if anyone is thinking of dropping anything, this class or college, remember all the benefits that come with going to college. Better education, meet new people, advancement on your abilities, sometimes free money, higher chance of getting hired, and you are highly respected in the long run.

  37. Personally, I have many roadblocks to overcome, sadly. However, it doesn't matter how many roadblocks you have to overcome in order to achieve your goal, what matters is how you behave toward these roadblocks and your perception of them. I have ADHD, and have had it since I was in third grade. This obstacle I have no longer identifies me, because I have taken it and given it a smaller look so it doesn't scare me anymore. I know that growing up in home broken in two, going back and forth between each house, dad smokes, moms a christian, three sisters, etc... I could go on and on about how horrible my life is, but I chose to know the positive and focus on that instead of the negative. All negative can do is cloud what you really see or what you want to see. So, instead of painting a pretty picture, I chose to look at the whole picture and see the beauty in it. Yes, my life is pretty bad in some cases, but in others its quite the opposite. If you want to know my life story and how I have overcome it all and am self motivated at the same time, then text me (619)7770567. It would be really nice to get to know you guys on a personal level.

  38. Some roadblocks to my success are that I do not like to spend time studying. I spend a lot of time outside and not enough time indoors working on my education. I need to learn a way of studying that actually helps me. The main roadblock I have is procrastination. I always finish assignments late at night and right before they are due. I have always procrastinated on assignments and it is a bad habit that causes me to put less effort into an assignment than I should. Another roadblock is that I get involved with too many activities and do not have time for homework. I enjoy working and exercising, so studying always comes last.

  39. Maybe you can try studying first and then using the exercising as a reward for studying? Try this and see if it works.

  40. How i motivate myself to be successful is by thinking of things i want and i order to get what i want i have to stay in school and work hard for it. I also motivate myself to be a good role model for my little brother because i want him to be successful as well. There were a few things that i found helpful and it was to study and i also think giving school some priority is helpful as well. I dont normally study because i find it confusing but im willing to try it. If i ever think of dropping out, i have to think negative stuff like not getting a good job, being a bad example to my brother or my future kids. And i dont want none of that.

Some roadblocks that i have would be stress, feeling preassured, and trouble staying focus. I also seem to overthink things and that really stresses me out. Sometimes i even think its pointless and i want to quit. I also remember that i got people to prove wrong and that gets me back on track. I try to overcome these things by trying to control my mind and tell myself that i can do anything. And getting those positive thoughts in my headr eally do help. Although it will be hard and we know that nothing comes easy, i am determined to do better.

  41. I'm Carlos Morales and i motivate myself by simply thinking about the future. My hard work and my education will get me to where i want to be when i'm older. Everybody's main motivation is to be successful. That's what i think everyone's motivation is because money is the motivator. Although i could understand how some do it to make their parents proud or do it for themselves. Some new motivators for me are to reward myself once i finish an assignment with food or something that i like doing. That will really push me to get it done because i will tell myself i can't have it until i finish my work.

  43. Some roadblocks that will be present is troubles with understanding material in school. I need to better listen to my professors in order to not have any troubles with my works. I also need to take the time to ask questions to fully understand what I am learning in class so I do not have to struggle with any test or quizzes. Other roadblocks include paying for a four year college, that is why I have a job right now in order to be prepared for when I need money for school. I need focus on spending money on what will actually be useful for me in the future and just need to practice that behavior.

  44. The way I motivate myself in being successful is visualizing how much easier my future will be if I do work hard and do become successful. I need to realize that there will obstacles on my journey and that I would need to become the best I could be in order to pass them. I need to provide myself with more intrinsic motivation in order to find personal meaning to what it is I am doing. I will be happier and more motivated. I also need to change some habits and to do that I need as much motivation as possible. Some serious habits I have is procrastination. I need to take step by step procedures in order to get rid of it, and I know I can do it. I can start of by managing my time better.

  45. Motivation is a major key to success. This is what drives one to continuously work to attain their goal. One motivating factor for me is just the process of constantly being positive and reminding myself of the goals I want to achieve. Getting into good habits that result in productivity is a good way to ensure of staying on track. I try to keep myself motivated by rewarding myself myself at times. For example, if I want to get something done I'll set a deadline and make sure I get it done by then. After, I will reward myself will something such as a tv show, etc. These will all help to keep myself motivated.

  46. There are many roadblocks to being successful. Some roadblocks for me include procrastination, stress, and being unmotivated. I tend to put things aside until the last minute. This is a bad habit, but I will fix it but practicing to avoid this. I also have a tendency to become unmotivated but by using these tips and tricks I read in Chapter one, I hope to motivate myself for the better by using reward techniques, etc. Stress is also something that many people including me deal with everyday. This is also prevented with coping techniques and learning how to manage it. Despite all of these roadblocks, I will continue to motivate myself and strive for the best.

I would absolutely try practicing and trying to avoid this habit of yours. I use reward techniques myself! I find that it actually really works. I do need to find a better way of dealing with stress and learn how to manage it better. I will also try to motivate myself and strive for the best. Let me know if you find any new coping techniques that I could try out myself. Good luck to you!

  47. Hello everyone! Here is how I motivate myself. I motivate myself by saying to myself that not everyone started big, everyone started out small and achieved their goals step by step. Other thing that motivates me is looking at greater people and tell myself that if they can do it then that means I can. For example, Steve Jobs started out in a garage but he never gave up his dream of inventing better computers even though he failed many times but never gave up on achieving the goal. I tend to motivate myself instead of listening to others because it just makes me feel less motivated.

  48. Some of my roadblocks are I am always stressful, overthinking and get distracted by things easily. The stress and overthinking is my biggest roadblock and it tires me a lot.I’m that kind of person who thinks all the time about everything, I think about my future and how I’ll reach my goal and I try to think of positive things but it just won’t work out. I also think about my classes and how to get everything done on time and how to get high grades in all classes, and I always get the feeling of failing somewhere. Distraction is also my roadblock. I get distracted easily especially because of what goes on around me because I’m constantly busy working, whether I’m home studying or not. I’m also constantly using my phone non-stop. I’ve been working on reducing my phone use and focus on studying more but sometimes its hard because I’m always on my phone and I do most of my work on it. So mostly I’m over thinking so I go on my phone to get the stress out and the overthinking.

On the other hand, I agree with you about how to think about getting A in your classes. I was like you, I stressed lots from the other classes, and I had a bad grades, but I have learned the easy way to control my self and how to mange my class and success; therefore, always think positive and think about how would you motivate your self to mange your time, work, and school. 49. Hello All,
The first chapter was amazon because it talked about motivation in all aspects. It explained how to be a motivated person. Also, it can teach us how to reach the level of motivation. I think motivation comes from inside of us because most of us are very motivated or trying to be motivated. However, there are some people who suffer from motivation; they never want to be motivate it, I think if they try little bet harder they will reach to the level of motivation. I can see lots of you guys are very motivated because you are writing over here and doing your homework. If you think you are not a motivated person, I can tell you that you are a motivated person because you all a students and taking this class to make the different in your lives. The second chapter is amazon because it will help you how to figure out your personality, likewise chapter 3. Good luck to all of you

  50. Life can be stressful and at times it feels like that's just how the rest of your life is going to be, having a child reminds me that I have to change what I don't like about my life. It definitely is a motivator , but it's not my only one I work hard so that one day I can work but not so hard. The reality of things is that your always going to have to do some kind of work. Mo like this chapter because it reminded me of the things that motivate me and why they are so important.

  51. I thought the first chapter about motivation was very inspiring and, it really helped me get excited about school again. It really made me realize that there are many different ways to to motivate yourself when you feel like giving up. There are many ways that I motivate myself and one of them being that I reward myself after completing something. Also making myself think about the long run/future gets me to keep going. Some roadblocks that I have experienced is, when i overwhelm myself with to much work and not giving myself a break(basically stressing myself out). If I think about dropping a class I will just make sure to remind myself of the great outcome to come out of whatever I'm doing.(Even if it's just for the satisfaction of having something done)

  52. Hi class! My name is Kelly and I wanted to tell all of you guys how I have motivated myself to be successful. Something that motivates me is watching/hearing about successful people out in the society now a days. Also, when someone that I have wants to be someone big or something big in life it motivates me 10 times more because I want to be able to show others that I did it. Chapter 1 did show a lot of motivation skills such as preparation, daily routine, and wanting to make you better. Dropping out of college has not crossed my mind but if it ever does I think it would reflect on what kind of life style I would live in the next 10 or 15 years I live. Living homeless is something not on my list which motivates me to get a college degree or at least do something with my life instead of doing nothing. Some roadblocks to my success is not being about to have money to go to college to be able to be successful. Money is a huge thing in society, money is everything now a days. How I can over come that is to probably take out loans and when I become successfully pay them all of or even ask family if they can help or search up for finical aid.

I have taken new ideas from this chapter like, intrinsic motivators and locus of control. These two topics were very interesting to me because I learned how to change my perspective on my academic success and how I can achieve my goals. Having an internal locus of control is something I will be implementing not only in my academics but also at my job. Being reminded that I control whether I succeed or fail will keep me pushing myself to reach my goals. Understanding what my intrinsic motivators are and how I can use them to stay on track is very important. It was fun to learn what my motivators are: wanting to learn more and be knowledgeable, pride in myself, finding subjects I am interested and having fun learning, etc. So far this class has given me many tools to use in all aspects of my life to be more successful and reach my full potential in everything I do.

If I were to consider or think about dropping out of school I can motivate myself by thinking about how I felt the first time I dropped out and the future I want to obtain. After dropping out of college I didn’t think it was that big of a deal but, now that I am older and have lived on my own for some time, I truly understand how important going to college is and how dropping out was a mistake. I didn’t have confidence in myself and always felt there was more to my life than working a 9-5 job and barely making ends meet. The future I want to have also motivates me because having the life I dream of requires a well-paying job and that requires a college education. I want to be able to travel overseas, purchase my own home and start a family without having to worry about my finances. I’ve lived paycheck to paycheck and the feeling of not knowing what the future holds and having no guarantee is a huge motivator because the uneasy feeling is not something I would like to experience again.

  55. Hello every one. I know life can be very stressful. But keep in mind, there is always ends to every start. What I mean, you can always think positive and I know you can do it. trust me there are lots of people have no house to sleep, or they can not even buy food to feed their children, Works never ends, but if you earn a degree it will stay with you all your life. Good luck

  56. Sorry for the late reply. The way I get motivated is by thinking that if I never do this then I won't be successful and I'll never get anything done with my life. For example with school I think if I don't go to college then I won't get a degree and I won't have a successful career so therefore I need to go. Same goes for classes in college. If I drop a class then I will just have more to get done.

  57. After reading Chapter 1, I have become more motivated to get my homework done on time. I think this class will be good for me because I am still somewhat unsure of my future and my career. The collegescope is very positive and I love reading it! Each chapter makes me motivated and think positively.
As for roadblocks, for me right now it's my future career. I use to have an idea of what I wanted to do but now since I am in college I'm kind of confused and I don't know what I want. So for now I am just getting my general education done. Maybe I'll figure something out along the way.

    1. I think that you are doing great with the direction you are going. I too, for the longest time, was extremely confused on what I really wanted to major in (an ultimately get a job doing). I actually dropped out of school a few times because I didn't have enough motivation and for not being able to decided why I was even attending. I couldn't nail anything down, as far as a degree choice, and it made me feel awful. But when I started early this year, it was my turning point. I made a decision that I would declare a major, try to work my way there, and if anything, I'd work on my general ed until I really figure if my declared major is right for me. Great job!

  60. Hey guys, I thought the chapter 1 was very motivating. I always motivate myself to be successful. I always motivate myself to do things even if I don't want to do it. Sometimes I just get to lazy but I always talk myself to get up and do it. Some ways i also motivate myself is listen to music. 62. I motivate myself to be successful by constantly thinking about the things that I want. For example, I want to be able to buy a house one day and to afford to send my daughters to college. I want to be able to provide a great life for my family and not have to work two or three jobs to do it. I want to achieve my goal of graduating from college and I want to make a positive lasting impression on my daughters. These are the things that I think about on a day to day basis, and all of it keeps me thinking of ways I can improve, not only myself, but my success. I have never wanted this more (to graduate from college), so I think that there is no doubt I will be successful.

  63. Some roadblocks that I have gotten on my path are really involving my family and myself. I think that I will stay on this path to success but these roadblocks can be quite painful. At times I feel bad that I am not spending more time with my girls and my husband (roadblock number one). Also, more recently, I've felt another roadblock with my current pregnancy. This time around the weather is really getting to me and making me more fatigued which naturally makes me feel not quite as motivated. But all I can think of is that I will not allow myself to drop out of college again; I will do this for my family, and I will do what is needed to continue. All in all, I don't think I could live with myself if I dropped out by letting any of these roadblocks affect me that much because what sort of example am I really setting for my daughters.
